3-27 Blade of Judgement
Friday, November 30th, 2007– Commentary –
J.D.: Good thing that’s not a sword of truth Leon’s attempting to wield.
Craig: Heh. The skull on the top of the blade is very small. If it’s not merely decorative, then there’s apparently a race of very tiny evil humanoids.
J.D.: Evil seems a little subjective when it comes to Azriel.
Craig: I love panel 4. Leon’s look of defiance is almost tangible.
J.D.: But then, Azriel might have inherited the sword too.
Craig: Maybe. Either that or ordained by the Council when a judgment archon is commissioned.
J.D.: It’s always interesting working on panels with only one person in them, because that person’s body language and expression have to be perfect. There’s no other distractions in the panel. Like panel 5. It’s just him and the sword.
Craig: Panel 5 is the moment where Leon has a choice. Note how his hand reflexively relaxes on the hilt —
J.D.: — as his spinal cord tries to make him let go?
Craig: Yes, exactly. He’s faced with tremendous pain, and he must either choose to hold on or let go.
J.D.: Sounds a bit like working at Dunkin’ Donuts when you miss the cup pouring the coffee. I speak from experience. If you let go of that cup, the coffee and the rest of the contents go all over everything in front of you, which means into the sugar bowl, all down the cream dispenser, all over the floor and the counter. So do you take the pain and just keep pouring, or do you drop it, and clean all of that up? I figured the pain would go away faster than the mess.
Craig: I’ve often observed that you seem to have superhuman resistance to touching hot things. I’ve given up on many a pan on the stove because it’s too hot to touch, only to have you grab it and toss it into the sink bare-handed. I guess your tenure at Dunkin’ Donuts granted you a level of heat resistance +5.
J.D.: Well, it had to grant me some boon! I sure wasn’t getting much money out of it.

Panel one is possibly the most hilarious thus far. But I pity the hotdog in panel six. 🙁

Hmmm…Leons chains appear. Lets see if Lilith or Maintainer appears too. Or some other meaning, they seem to be burning.

You know, one of these days, sooner or later, just maybe, Leon’s impetuousness is going to get him in trouble. 😉

This is so much the same old Leon, but at the same time such a huge change from the earlier Leon. He still speaks without thinking. He still challenges authority. But this is not the same old Leon trying to explain his way out of trouble when he “bent” the rules. Here he is trying to help someone else, and of course getting in over his head. Have we found out what race Lillith is? I wonder if that going to come into play in any way here… Or was Leon just an adopted descendant with no blood relation? I’m finding myself REALLY wanting to see Leon somehow succeed here in wielding the blade, even though it is so much larger than Angelina’s blade. I’m guessing size has nothing at all to do with the difficulty Leon has wielding the blade.
Man I thought this was a good comic before… Now it’s REALLY getting good.

My guess was that the chains are somehow related to the “no artifacts” restriction…

Hehe, oh to hear the tone of voice used for “You disemboweled yourself”?

I’m inclined to suspect Leon can’t weild the Archonic blade not because he is human, but because of the no artifacts restriction.
Isn’t Leon Ignatius’s Grandson? If Ignatius has fey bloodlines, that may allow Leon to use the Archonic blade too.
Its just a theory.

I was expecting for Leon to be able to grab that sword and then the ‘Ahhh’ would have turned into a ‘Ohhhh’ from the archons and Angelina saying ‘You liar; You are not human’…
What a turn point…!!!!

They made the Unit Minor a hundred and fifty and Unit Tremendous 250 on this manner and by 1938 all of their machines were unit construction. During October 2017, the Australian construction contractor Seymour Whyte was bought by Vinci.| These latter actions can improve construction costs significantly. As soon as all passengers have been accounted for, the airline issues a last manifest, which can be used to notify relatives within the unlikely occasion of an air disaster. Passenger airlines load civilian passengers, their luggage (and typically their pets), snacks and drinks. The gates are the place the airplanes park for passenger boarding and deplaning.
