3-16 Following Power
Monday, September 17th, 2007– Commentary –
Craig: I think it’s interesting that while Marcus has some tea for breakfast, Ignatius sips at a glass of wine.
J.D.: Well, two hundred plus years ago, when he was last out and about, it was often unsafe to drink the water, especially in cities. So people would drink alcohol with every meal because the alcohol content of the beverage killed anything that might be living in it. Not strong drinks, as a rule, but something with alcohol in it.
J.D.: You’ve gotta wonder if Ignatius really wouldn’t rather have someone else as his bound vampire bodyguard. Like someone who isn’t constantly making editorial comments about his habits.
Craig: I don’t know. Marcus is his brother, so they have a lot of history. Better to have someone who actually bothers to comment rather than just mindlessly does your bidding. I mean, this is Ignatius we’re talking about.
J.D.: The devil you know philosophy?
Craig: Certainly — but I meant that the only thing Ignatius likes better than hearing himself talk is having an audience.
J.D.: At least if Marcus is commenting he knows he’s listening.
Craig: Exactly. By the way, Marcus’s “execution by drowning” comment is in reference to page 2-23, where we learn that Ignatius received that exact punishment two centuries ago.
J.D.: Too bad they didn’t succeed.

Completely unrelated at this point… but it just reminded me of that scene.
